These neat little wall clocks all have a pyrography artwork of some of the neolithic standing stones of the Ring Of Brodgar, Orkney. Each hand-drawn work is unique to each clock. This ancient site receives thousands of visitors every year, and the grass path around the stones has been worn by the passage of tens of thousands of feet. The scene here of three standing stones looks to Scara Brae (which can't be seen from here). People love to touch these ancient stones as they feel that as they do so, they reach back into the mists of time. The lichen that grows on the lower part of the rock gets worn away, while that at the top is left to thrive where people can't reach it, and forms what I call "Rock Beard", as it looks like the stubble us fellas get where we are too lazy to shave! Made from 4mm plywood (dimensions below), the pyrographed numerals are based on ancient runes and the clock has black metal hands. One of four in my collection of Brodgar-themed oval clocks, I intend to make just ten in total.
This clock is aprox 195mm x 145mm, and is 4mm thick, has a quiet ticking quartz movement which uses one AA battery (not supplied), and is ready to hang on your wall.
